Thank you very much for sending me the July / September edition of The Kashmir Quarterly, which I have read with interest.
You know of my long-standing involvement and commitment to the freedom of the Kashmiri people, I would hope that should you or any of your colleagues be visiting London, or I, in turn, be visiting Canada, we would be able to get together.

[Your long-standing commitment to the Kashmiri cause is much appreciated].
I congratulate you and all who are working in the Council for the [Kashmiri] cause. As a Kashmiri-Canadian and a post-graduate student, I would like to help the Kashmir freedom struggle any way I can.
We have a long struggle ahead of us. We should therefore plan for a sustainable strategy. Canada is a wonderful country. It has given me and others many good opportunities. Let us help our brothers and sisters who are suffering under the forcible Indian occupation.
I would like to share a few thoughts with you:
§ We should forge an alliance with NGOs working in the area to address human rights abuses.
§ Presently, Canada and the US are marketing in South Asian countries. The information and communication is a very powerful tool. The KCC must effectively utilise the most modern forms of communication to get its message across to the public at large.
§ India is doing everything possible, with its huge resources, to cover up the Kashmir dispute. The survival of our cause in the future is our biggest challenge.
I will leave these thoughts for your consideration. As a student, I come to Ottawa regularly to visit my family. May God help the Kashmiri cause and the Council.

[We have made a note of it].
I have received your magazine. I am most impressed by the efforts of the Kashmiri-Canadian Council as you seem to be doing a great deal in that part of the world to highlight the Kashmir issue. I have also read about the KCC elsewhere and in most cases they have been praised for the work.
Well done and keep up the good work. One day, Inshallah, we will achieve our goal. Let us pray that we can reach that goal without further bloodshed.
It may be a good idea to web your magazine. Whatever help you need, just ask; I can help you.

Kashmir has been converted into the "killing fields of Asia" and I strongly condemn killing of innocent human beings. You must not forget that there is anarchy in Kashmir. If you go there for a day you can be killed and when your family protests they will be told separatist militants did the killing, if they deny, they say renegades did it or they may also say you were killed in a cross fire. File Closed!
National Conference (NC) stooges have been very insensitive to the feelings of the bereaved families and sentiments of many millions of people seeking freedom. I know NC are a handful of black sheep whom the people do not like but we still think no one must be killed in cold blood. The pogroms and mass murders recorded, even investigated by Indian administration itself, must be a proof of the crimes committed against the innocent people of Kashmir under Indian occupation. [We fully share your feelings].
First, I want to thank you for your informative publication that keeps me and I hope, many other, updated with the situation is Kashmir. Secondly, regarding your recent issue's [July-September 1996] articles: Human Rights Watch wants state-sponsored militants disarmed and The Sealed Valley of Kashmir. I would like to congratulate both the Human Rights Watch/Asia and Prof. Baker for documenting the crime against humanity and state-sanctioned terrorism in Kashmir, a painstaking work indeed.
However, I am astonished that there has been no public condemnation against Indian tyranny in Kashmir. I am afraid that India is interpreting the International communities' silence as a licence to kill all innocent Kashmiris oppose to India's totalitarian rule.
I wonder, is the world community sleeping, or allowing India to create a favourable atmosphere to legitimise its rule in Kashmir?
